the history;
From the time he was a young boy, Leonardo Marino has been conditioned and trained in the ways of the family business. By the time he was twelve, he could fire a gun and ht the center of any given target. He was raised to be the spitting image of his father, and was never allowed the luxury of following his own path in life.

Leo knew from a young age what his path in life would be. People knew his father, and that was excuse enough for him to bully others. He was never outrageous about it, but he made sure the other kids in his classes knew not to mess with him and to do what he said. Teachers knew better than to punish him. He got enough of that when he misbehaved at home. His mother was a nurturer, but his father ran the household. He was very big on the "tough love" mentality, and often pushed his son just to see how well he'd be able to take it.

As a teenager, Leo began to accept his life as what it would become. He walked with an air of privilege and entitlement in him, and nine times out of ten, always got what he wanted. His father stressed the importance of education on him, so after graduating high school at the top of his class, he went on to business school at NYU. He wanted to get into the family business right away, as he'd been conditioned for it his whole life, but his father made sure he went to school and got himself educated.

In college, Leo met the woman who would change his life. yes, he'd had flings and girlfriends, but the business always came first. This woman knew of his family, knew who he was, but none of that seemed to phase her. If anything, it excited her. Leo married her two years later, and she is really the one thing that actually makes him happy in his life. He can be a cold and ruthless man, someone who does unspeakable things, but coming home to her keeps him sane.

When his father made the decision to take over the ports of Boston from the Irish, Leo of course fell in line. He was his father's son, and knew he'd take over the business one day. Instead of moving into Boston with the rest of his father's associates, Leo and his family stayed stayed behind in New York to keep things up on their end. The Marino family would not be abandoning their place in New York, but instead branching out to gather more territory. Leo has been running the business in New York, yet still under the thumb of his father. He can barely make a decision without the approval of "the boss." Still, he is good to the people who work for him, and he has built up quite the allegiance within the business. People are loyal to them because he actually makes the effort to care about their needs.
